On Friday June 16th, 2017, an event will take place in Madrid in which Prof. Joe Monaghan will be appointed Honorary PhD by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).

The appointment has been promoted by Antonio Souto-Iglesias’ research group and henceforth by the ETSI Navales faculty.

SPH researchers are more than welcome to the event.

In order to attend the event, a travel strategy that works nicely is to fly to Madrid, take the train to Ourense for SPHERIC, return after SPHERIC to Madrid by train for sleeping in Madrid on Thursday 15th and traveling back home either Friday after the event or Saturday.

The event will take place at 12:00 noon in the events room of Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Navales (ETSIN). Avenida Arco de la Victoria, 4, 28040 Madrid.  You can reach the venue walking from Moncloa or Ciudad Universitaria Metro stations (9 minutes walk). LINK.

The ETSIN students that got their PhD in previous school year will get their diplomas also during this event.

Prof. Monaghan will be having an official lunch after the event with the university rector. For those staying in Madrid Friday overnight, a joint dinner+drinks will be organized (bill split or each one paying its share of the bill, as preferred).
